Did you actually tell your husband that you cleared out the room for a reason and that you didn't want other stuff in there? Because if one of my housemates cleared their personal stuff out of a room, I would not think that I was not allowed to put my OWN stuff in there unless they had specifically told the rest of us that they wanted to keep the room clear.
