Well, he'd only be a few of years older than her (assuming she's of an age with her actor) and Bremen (which is likely the town Crabapple Cove is based on) and Perkins Cove (which Cabot Cove is based on) are only about 100 miles apart, so it seems pretty plausible to me that they could have easily met at some point.
