I wish there was a space to talk about fanfic this way.

I don’t want to shove my critique in the face of actual fanfic writers. But I also wish I could talk about negative aspects of stories I read.

Increasingly, I think this is impossible or impractical. But I still wish.

Honestly, at this point, you would just need to create your own space and invite like-minded people to join. This is the one thing that sucks about open-everything. Yes, you can always create a subreddit or something similar, but too many things are linked together and too many folks may run into things they don't particularly enjoy.

I say this as someone who used to critique in the past and no longer cares to do that.

I think Discord by itself is okay, but I admit I've been in servers that are just overwhelming. It can be difficult when fandom spaces get too big and there's no way to interact with others in a meaningful way.

You could probably do this with a tumblr if you disabled reblogs and were very careful with your tags. It’s a lot of work for potentially not a lot of gain though.
