I don't know if that's true. I've always been a huge lurker and I miss LJ tremendously.
There were a lot of fandom content to consume: meta, master posts, fanfic recs, kink memes and all the community around edits and whatnot. You could also post anon in some role-playing places and it was awesome.
I had a pretty good time and I was never ever in a huge fandom or in popular circles.

The only thing I really don't miss are the closed communities. They almost always rejected me because I had no real presence on LJ. SIGH.
Doujinshi, fanfictions, subbed and pirated episodes are way more available now. Thank god.
