They do have three female characters whose sole character trait is "be the surly and aggressive one", so, valid.

I think that's a little unfair as a description of La'an and Una (I don't think they're that far removed from EG Riker and Worf; just because it's two women characters instead of two men characters, it doesn't immediately become bad writing) but I can see where you're coming from.

I genuinely have no idea who the third character you're thinking of is.

But two of the three have had significant character development from that starting point? La'an in particular, but Una as well. Ortegas not so much, but she's still lightened up.

Honestly I keep coming back to this and I keep asking, how much of this is because SNW has a cast that's mostly women with a handful of men, rather than a cast with mostly men and a handful of women?
