I don't have kids and am not good with them, but I was so glad (for the kids!) that the person who brought their 3 maybe 6-11 year old boys to Watchmen at the showing I went to left during the opening credits.

I don't remember which previews were shown beforehand, but I was mad on the kids' behalf they made it that far. Do some research beyond "has superheroes" before taking your pre-pubescent kids to a nighttime showing of an R rated movie, please, parents!

At least if parents watch at home, their kids can leave the room when it gets too much. Or the parents could hire a sitter, or let the kids see a different movie they'll actually like while parents watch the gore fest.
