There is exactly one writer in my fandom (an american sci fi media fandom) who uses "the raven" for an otp character, and I swear I thought it was a secret code name (he's a pilot so I thought maybe it was his pilot handle). I wrote a confused comment and they lol'd that it was a epithet used in their country for hair color and I was like...okay but this guy is american and anyway, he's thinking of *himself* as the raven???

can all epithets just die die die???
