I enjoyed using Twitter for the fanart and for viewing political discussions, but I agree that it serves as more of a sampler of different fandom discussions rather than something more personal and laid back. I've since abandoned Twitter after the crypto-ification and migrated to Bluesky. Thankfully the fandom audience there is more relaxed, even though it feels like meeting people in a convention rather than visiting neighbors in each others homes.
