The Girl From Tomorrow/Tomorrow's End is an Aussie kids TV show, a girl time travels from the thirtieth century to the late twentieth, and deals with a time traveling baddie from the 25thC who stole a time machine from a time traveling research party. The conceit is that sometime between the 20th and 30th Centuries there was an apocalypse that rendered the entire northern hemisphere uninhabitable and wrecked the climate of the southern one, and although it recovered, the intervening times looked a bit like:

Those guys are totally Mad Maxing it, right? It fits, it completely fits. Well, with a bit of handwaving over the calendar, but it still fits.
