While I'm sure there is a version (or several) of old money Lex Luthor, the versions I know are the ones where he was poor as a child (lived in the slums), or his father was the one who first made serious money.

Regardless, given the weird-ass things we've seen actual billionaires do, say, and wear (both old and new money) and adding in the bizarreness that comes of being comic-book characters, I don't really get the issue.

Good point. Like I find it weird that so many wealthy evil types either don't wear suits, or don't have clothes that fit, when they could all afford tailors who would make their clothes look better. If I was a billionaire techbro or a politician you can bet my clothes would look good, so they are obviously looking bad on purpose. They probably also smell cheap and weird.

I think some people just don't know what 'old money' means. Like they're just conflating it with rich. You can be rich and very much not old money.

My mother said the difference between old and new money is that old money is convinced they’re better than you, so they don’t bother to rub it in and can actually be tolerable. New money keeps having to prove they’re better than you.

ayrt

You could be right. Though I would have thought the 'old' part would have given it away.

to be fair, it's a little weirder now there isn't specific rules for how many generations it takes to be old money enough for Lina Astor
