The whole situation with him and his cancellation is so damn confusing. I know that China tends to come down HARD on celebrities for various reasons but this seems like... a frame job? I don't mean to sound crazy conspiracy theorist, but it having your picture taken near the outside of a shrine that commemorates Japanese war fatalities (including some considered war criminals by China) seems like it could be a dumb mistake. What possible reason would he have to do something on purpose and flaunt it, knowing full well the kind of social and career repercussions he'd face back home?

I mean yes, it was certainly a dumb mistake. I've been to that shrine and there is a lovely park beside it where people often take pictures and enjoy the cherry blossoms. But people wanted to cancel him and there was a dumb mistake to cancel him over, so they did. What can he do other than move on with his career outside China (ignoring all the assholes telling him to kill himself)?

Yeah, and I'm glad it's working out for him. I do wonder what came of his plans to press charges and fight back against the defamation, though.
