I'm so out the loop, I didn't know that Disney has the rights to the X-Men. They're pretty much my exception for Marvel movies right next to Deadpool - is there a new one coming out?

Yeah, the new Deadpool movie has a link to MCU I guess? And then they’re going to do more. Or something. I honestly don’t pay attention because I was burnt out on MCU early on, but I think the OP is right that the window is closed.

Disney gained the X-rights when they bought Fox. They held off integrating them properly for too long though, waiting for "the right time" thinking they were building anticipation. Turned out they didn't need to build it, but the slight cameos in Multiverse of Madness, Ms Marvel, and Marvels just kinda burned everyone out on waiting. Too much fan-teasing builds exhaustion, not anticipation. The Deadpool movie coming up might prove the exception, but that is more due to Deadpool than anything else.

I think it had more to do with waiting for the contracts of the the fox actors to run out. Otherwise they would have had to either hire them for the MCU X-Men movies or pay them some hefty fees for not using them in the MCU movies. It's going to be at least a couple of years before they can do an X-Men movie without having to do that.

And those financial decisions were the very definition of penny wise, but pound foolish.

Disney has made a lot of decisions that were penny wise and pound foolish, and waiting to do the X-Men is not anywhere near the top of them.

It is second from the top of the list of the ones I care about.

They oughta have stopped funding the Florida GOP a lot sooner, since you were about to ask.

I don't know if there's a movie already planned, but the Easter Egg at the end of The Marvels has Kelsey Grammer as Beast, so the connection has been made.
