People who insist on having their loud phone conversations in public. Yeah, I get that it's hard to filter out noise but holy shit, I don't want to hear you practically yelling at someone else in the hallway or even ten feet away from me outside.

The problem is that talking with that sort of person goes exactly nowhere because they just stick their fingers in their ears and go "LA LA LA" and double down on their shitty beliefs.

I know, I've tried to do it multiple times. At this point I just don't bother anymore because those kinds of people aren't open to any views other than their own.

Eh, I mean, a good part of it is shock TV, but I wouldn't say nothing happens in it. I think they shift characters around to suit whatever story they're trying to tell a little too much sometimes, but for the most part, I enjoy it. The characters can be fun.

I dabbled in conservatism briefly as a teenager, but that only lasted until I moved to a red state in high school and saw those policies in action. Modern Republicanism is a cult in the truest sense. Their leaders spend so much time fearmongering about "urban liberal hellscapes" and demonizing anyone politically to the left of Newt Gingrich because unquestioning fear of alternatives is the only thing that keeps the GOP's brand of theocratic extreme capitalism alive.

Don't know where case lives, but the East Coast of the US got somewhat walloped by weird, hurricane-like storms today and a lot of people are experiencing power outages. I didn't lose power, but I do need to figure out how to fix (or at least patch) a broken fence once things dry out a little.

But a lot of them don't care to learn any better either.

And therein lies the problem. If someone doesn't know better but is willing to listen and learn, that's cool! My grandparents absolutely didn't understand the entire concept of being trans at first but they were open to listening and learning and while they still don't quite get it entirely, they understand enough to believe that trans people should be respected and are just as deserving of rights as everyone else. And that's fine! They don't have to completely understand as long as they're respectful, which they are.

People who smoke are already kinda gross, but throwing your butts in the sand on the same beach where people are walking, children are playing... they suck donkey balls.

I'm on relatively high ground, so I got it easier than some. The fence took a beating in the wind though. Some of the places that got floods over the summer got flooded again, which really stinks. If it had been cold enough for snow this would have been feet of snow over a 12 hour period, so mixed blessing maybe?

Whenever my country is up for hosting, I pray for the opposite result. I don't want that shitshow anywhere near me.

Hmm. In the US? Buy into the idea that any mainstream US politician is endorsing anything remotely resembling socialism. The only reason this even gets the slightest amount of traction is that the right wing has moved so far right that Richard Fucking Nixon would be considered a bleeding heart lefty by today's standards. The Squad's not socialist; they're just socially-conscious Democrats. Bernie Sanders likes to talk about socialism from one of his three houses, but at the end of the day he's just an obstructionist who likes to talk big, sell books and wear mittens. The Biden Administration is slightly to the left of the Obama Administration which was just about on par with the Clinton Administration which was proudly Centrist. Both sides will be better off when they realize that no one on the ballot's gunning for capitalism and they need to figure out what else they stand for before they vote.

I agree but I feel we're in the minority - or at least the majority who are being drowned out by the vocal minority, just the same as every other facet of life right now. If you don't hold the Right Opinions and support the Right People and hate the Bad People you don't get to be a member of society, let alone exist in hard left fandom spaces where you must adhere to a strict set of constantly changing rules about what is Good today. It sucks.
