I noped out on book 2 with the mutant sewer dwellers. I can’t imagine what this is like at book 22.

(6 seems to be the magic number for book series. The 7th book in a series can still be good, but any series with more than 6 books will keep up the sequels and prequels and midquels until it eventually becomes a shambling husk.)

Honestly, the first few books are still pretty pedestrian compared to where the series went. It got crazy... murder conspiracies, Nazi twin cloning in South America, a Lovecraftian cult in Long Island, and on and on and on...
