Mm, I feel you-- The Simpsons hasn't been around my entire life, but I don't have a whole lot of, like... MEMORY from before it was on the air! I grew up watching it, and I DO have that nostalgic response. But like... growing up, it never would have occurred to me that Carl and Dr Hibbert were being voiced by white actors taking up roles that *could* have gone to Black actors!

I haven't gone back to watching the show since it jumped my personal shark, though I hear it is good again. When I rewatch old ones, it'll be from the earlier seasons. I AM glad that they're looking at race not just in terms of perpetuating stereotypes/racial bullying but like... in terms of who is getting paid to be those characters! I genuinely am! But... in my head, those characters sound the way they always did in my childhood.
