Hey I'm russian and absolutely cannot stand patriotic american war movies, but BoB is fantastic. I think it's made with great care and respect to the people and events, so I always took it as a generalized story about soldiers at war, not specifically american soldiers. There are enough shitty patriotic movies and shows (made by any country) to feel weird about, but BoB isn't one of them.
