part this is general fandom rabidness, but honestly, part of this is everyone knows companies will take a shit on media about marginalized people any chance they get (see: iger and "taking a step back" on "message movies". um...are the message movies in the room with us?) and they're futilely trying to control companies backing away from representation or counter-balancing actually "anti-woke" loudmouths. it's not going to work because this is a vicious cycle where marginalized stories only get told when these companies have exhausted other themes and audiences and don't want to do the same type of thoughtful promotion that they started with so the movies don't make as much money and then those companies go "oh guess there's no audience!" like i can't blame them for trying to control the reputational aspect of money-making but we can't get the same caliber of stories by promoting mediocrity either. fucking sucks.

but i also liked this movie a lot and think it's very good.
