DA

I don't know. Apparently not wanting to be surprised by piv in m/m fic is problematic, and not wanting to read that makes one a very very bad no good person now. Which makes me want that stuff to be tagged even more. I don't care that it exists; I just don't like being surprised by it in m/m fic.

Someone not wanting to read piv does not necessarily make them misogynist, and the more some people act like the only correct way to write a person with a vagina having sex is piv or pegging is also annoying. Almost like those people have some sexual hang-ups of their own.

Especially when you're talking about fics featuring trans male characters, because for plenty of trans people that can be a dysphoria trigger.

People acting like the main complaint is about genitals and not about being unable to filter through content that you would like to see and read.

If giving vaginas to canonically cis male characters make someone happy for whatever reason, be my guest. It's fandom. We are in fandom to have fun, seek escapism. However, it's important to keep in mind that what works for them, might not work for others. I am not even sure why these kind of secrets generate so much discourse, when the posters are usually speaking from a simple, genuine request of wanting tags.

Some people live and die for piv or any kind of sex with vaginas, some people on the other hand want to avoid it because the genital itself might be triggering dysphoria, trauma or anything else. It's almost as if these people forgot to be mindful of others.

I am honestly tired of not being able to filter my fandom experience, because people treat their headcanon as canon, therefore not needing tags... or just want to "surprise" me.

No character is canonically cis unless they're shown naked or we see a flashback to when they were a baby and their gender and name are the same as their current one.

You sounds like a twitter reply.

Every character is canonically cis until shown or told otherwise.

No, it is more like characters are cis and straight in canon unless and until we are shown or told otherwise on screen or on the page. Your headcanons are not canon, no matter how many tantrums you throw or how much you whine.

LMAO yall are defensive. I didn't say they were canonically trans. You all speculate about which characters are which non-straight sexual orientation in every piece of media ever, even ones where the author hates the gays or is too hetero-minded to even think about us, but when it comes to trans characters you need them to prove it or else they're canonically cis. I see what you're doing.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

We're not defensive, we're mildly annoyed at the stupidity in the room with us. When we make characters gay, we tag them. When we rule 63 characters, we tag them. If you're going to make a character who is not canonically trans trans, then guess what? You need to tag it. Because tags are for things that are going in your fic. Canon elements do not need a tag, unless you really want to point them out, like canon-typical cannibalism in a Hannibal fic (because you're gonna focus on the cannibalism). And maybe to you all characters are trans or non-binary unless stated otherwise, but the general understanding of fandom is that they are what is assumed by the writers and society in general unless stated otherwise in the media and unfortunately writers are writing mostly straight cis characters. Unless they are explicitly trans in the media, you tag that shit.

This is fandom 101, my dude.
