I just want them to distinguish rogue and rouge.

I think that people tend to be comfortable with the familiar... but having that repetition is what made me lose interest. Not that ideas should never be repeated or preserved, I just think there should be a balance between the familiar and the new. I lost interest after TFA so I can't tell if that balance was ever achieved. Judging by the mixed reviews of the remainder of the sequels, I'm going to guess it wasn't.

This is one adaptation I do not want. I just really dont think its going to translate to screen well at all.

But also, totally agree OP.

I tried reading Digital Fortress. It felt like the entire book was minmaxed towards maintaining the appropriate level of tension at each point in time. This was self-defeating, because tension isn’t the only component in investment. You need to actually care about the characters in order to get up a good worry.

For anyone who liked the concept of "The Da Vinci Code" but hated the execution, check out "Headlong" by Michael Frayn.

"Taunt" misused in place of "taut" makes my brain explode.

I think it depends on the upbringing. I did have a lot of unrealistic body image expectations as a young girl, and TV was a part of it, along with magazines and other media. I don't blame such things entirely though; I had a shitty upbringing and was never taught self-care, self-respect, or anything resembling a healthy diet or exercise routine/activities. I couldn't understand why I couldn't look like those beautiful thin girls no matter what I did, and eventually just accepted that I was going to be fat all my life. It was only later I even learned about other contributing factors, and was able to adjust my diet and stress levels, etc. (And while I was overweight, nobody told me I was only supposed to keep the size meant for me, not for someone else.)

It wasn't until I was well into my 30s that I finally began to understand how much society affected my internalized misogyny and low self image. A lot of it came from the way society treated girls and young women in the 2000s (and a considerable amount in the 1990s but the majority of my puberty developing happened in the early 2000s). The fatphobia was severe, to the point that I never felt like I was considered a girl in any form.

The cool girls wear tampons thing was something I learned from reading articles in late 1990s teen magazines my sister bought. I always had a really strong fear of tampons due to me hearing somewhere that only girls who've lost their virginity know how to use tampons. Being from a conservative family I didn't want anyone to think I wasn't a virgin so I never tried tampons. Tangent but in my 20s I tried to give it a chance but it wasn't comfortable for me - and hearing that in South Korea it's much more common for women to use sanitary pads - I stopped feeling like a weirdo adult woman for not liking tampons.
