Also one of my comfort shows! Never got into Gilmore girls but I remember watching The Good Witch movies with my mom and then when the series came about it was something we would watch together as well. Great memories there for me.

It did get kind of weird at the end. It was like all the low key magical stuff got very blatant, with curses and clues and such.

But I do like the series. I also like the old tv movies.

I completely agree with you OP! The first few seasons and the movies are my go-to comfort watch. The last seasons did get a little weird with the blatant magic as opposed to the more 'there's magic but we just don't talk about it', but I did like Joy as a character! I think she played off Cassie and Abigail quite well.

Ugh yes, this is so frustrating!

I am in one, only one, book rec group that isn't like that. There will usually be a reply or two that clearly didn't read the whole post or try the old "I know its not what you asked for but.." nonsense, bit for the most part it is just very helpful replies with no judgement. It took me forever to find it.

yes 100%! I find it especially in the Modded Minecraft community. Someone will ask for an easy mod pack and everyone will recommend GregTech New Horizons which is a grindy as fuck pack. (its a good pack, but not an easy one).

Same with other game rec communities. Everyone always recommends the same few games no matter what the requirement is. Oh? you want a first person shooter? let me recommend Stardew Valley to you.

Ugh, I hate this phenomenon so much. I don't know whether people are so desperately eager to promote their own faves that they don't really care who's asking for what, or if people can't frigging READ or they just enjoy giving input even though they don't have what the person's asking for and can't help themselves or what.

It's not a reddit-isolated issue though, it happens just about on every site/forum when you ask for recs. Doesn't matter if you explicitly state in your OP what are absolutely things you DO NOT WANT (even in ALLCAPS and bolded if possible), someone WILL rec you tons of exactly that, either because they didn't bother to read the actual post or "I know you said no "xyz" but this is so great and such an exception you have to read it anyway!". Nope.

Interesting.

I think this is a result of there only being about 5 social media sites/apps that most regular internet users go to. And most of those regular users have 1 or 2 main apps/sites that they frequent a lot more than others.

Therefore, it tends to be same people with like minded individuals visiting the same places and why every place feels rather homogenous now.

Oh god, I hope so. I haven't been to the cinema since 2014 because I have to drive there and if the movie makes me queasy it's hell driving back. And my partner has to pre-watch shows for me to find out if I can watch them. Watching on a very small screen sometimes helps but not always.
