I've found that it tends to be dudes who consider it sadder than other episodes.

I get it, though. The owner accidentally disappeared from his dog's life, and (after some science) came to the conclusion that the dog must have had a long fulfilling life. When in fact, the dog spent its remaining years waiting for its owner to return. Even if you're not a dog owner, that is sad to think about.

Before "authentic" became the dictionary's word of the year (I think Merriam-Webster?), I had resolved (or at least hoped I'd get my shit together long enough to do so) that 2024 would be my year of authenticity. Sometimes you hide for so long and don't realize you're doing it, even in little ways.

I hope 2024 is better for everybody. Except the evil little shits who are holding back and holding down the rest of us. I hope your socks always slide down inside your shoes and your money no longer talks.

I used to think it was a mildly sad episode for the longest time, but I recently rewatched it and the ending made me cry. I have no idea why, especially since Fry sorta reunites with Seymour in a future episode.
