Just get through it. That is mine. Last year ended as a fucking bastard, despite most of it until Sept being pretty good. I'm starting '24 deep in the hole though.

Before "authentic" became the dictionary's word of the year (I think Merriam-Webster?), I had resolved (or at least hoped I'd get my shit together long enough to do so) that 2024 would be my year of authenticity. Sometimes you hide for so long and don't realize you're doing it, even in little ways.

I hope 2024 is better for everybody. Except the evil little shits who are holding back and holding down the rest of us. I hope your socks always slide down inside your shoes and your money no longer talks.

Man, I don’t even know. I make resolutions every year and I never keep any of them. Maybe remove my work email from my phone so people will stop bugging me outside work hours.

Buy a motorcycle. I always planned not to get one in my dad’s lifetime but he’s pretty much checked out of my life. It will be easy to hide from him the fact I have one.

Learn at least two new recipes every month.

Communicate better and more kindly with my husband. We’ve made a colossal effort the last few months and it’s been awesome. We had some major life changing thing happen a few years ago and have been at odds ever since, so I started defaulting to hostile/argumentative/confrontational in every exchange. Not doing that makes for a very happy life and we’re finally finding a healthy new normal after The Big Thing.

I'm not doing a resolution, I'm doing a to-do list.

Finish a lego set. Sew up the fronts of all my blouses, even the ones I don't wear often. Eat at least three things I've never tried before. All stuff I can do that doesn't require me to try and establish a long term habit! But that will make my life a little easier or enriched.

I will be absolutely heartbroken if 2024 doesn't play out kinder than 2023, perhaps literally. I don't believe I'll physically survive much more disappointment in that regard, my body already having taken such a whopping from this past year via various stress-induced illnesses.

My only resolution is to journal every day.

Take more time for self-care and comfort.
Read more books.
Exercise more.
Try & keep my diabetes at its current pre-diabetes A1C level of 6.4 or lower.
Keep on praying that the remainder of the Israeli hostages in Gaza are returned alive very soon.

Ringing in the New Year with an employee texting me to confirm that we don't have to work tonight. At 1AM. ._.

I gave everyone a sheet of paper "We return NIGHT OF MONDAY NIGHT" before we went on holiday break. Tonight is Sunday night. Please leave me alone outside of work hours. Good God. Can a bitch be on break for the full allotted time of break. Stop forcing me to play Mommy every waking day of my life, I beg of the universe. I chose not to have children for this very reason.

I just typed a wall of text rant about the bombing on the 30th and how it runed my NY, as I learned about it today, and how I hate Reddit for its reaction. But I decided that fs is not a place for this. Still, I think I might hate Reddit now. I started using Reddit for my Genshin builds but should probably stop now so that I'm not tempted to search political topics. There's always GameFAQs

So, so glad 2023 is almost over. This year has just sucked. And now I have food poisoning on the last day of the year and can't enjoy my vacation. Next year needs to be better.

My nose has been driving me crazy!!!! Taking allergy meds...still sneezing up a storm. UUUUGGHH. Yesterday my stomach and sides were hurting because I'd been blowing my nose so much ToT I don't know if it's a cold or illness I'd picked up somewhere but I don't have a fever and I'm not coughing a lot (coughing is my regular smoker cough, not a cough brought on by an illness, it's very mild and only comes on when I smoke haha). It could just be the dry, dry air around here. I don't know.

Last night I had a very vivid dream. As a youth I had a bit of an obsession with remembering my dreams and trying to find meanings through them. One of my childhood friends and I would share our dreams and interpret them together. Into my 20s I began to forget my dreams. I don't often remember my dreams anymore, so when I do remember a dream I tend to feel accomplished.
My dream last night was a good dream. Not one filled with dread and fear and darkness (typical of most dreams I can recollect). It was a fun and colorful adventure. Some embarrassing moments and misfortunes but overall a good time. It felt like I was living in a water color painted world. I hung out with friends I had in middle school and high school.
I interpret it as I want to recapture the fun in seeking for adventure like I did when I was young. This time I can control a lot more in my life and I have a lot less holding me back (I hope).
Guess this second half is less of a vent but...happy new year.

I wanted to go on a walk with a friend today, but she bowed out.

And I want to get some groceries and go on a solo walk before everything closes early (and most stores are closed tomorrow), but I have a sinus headache + nausea.

Plus I've just generally been in a bad mood and feeling poor and lonely the last couple days, idk. Tomorrow is a new year and hopefully I'll feel better, even if I am spending it by myself.

Still concerned about not having my license plate sticker just yet. I did pay to renew online but who the fuck knows when they'll mail it. I was thinking of printing the receipt and keeping it with my state inspection just in case a cop gets curious while I'm on the road.

I don't mind that I can hear my neighbor coughing, sneezing, and snoring all the time through the walls but I am worried he can hear *my* coughing, sneezing, and snoring. God, I sometimes rip the loudest farts too.
