Still concerned about not having my license plate sticker just yet. I did pay to renew online but who the fuck knows when they'll mail it. I was thinking of printing the receipt and keeping it with my state inspection just in case a cop gets curious while I'm on the road.

You should. I renewed mine just before Christmas and got back the registration but no stickers. Instead, I got a letter explaining that I was due for new plates and those would arrive (with stickers) in 3-4 weeks. In the meantime I was to keep the letter with the registration in my car to show why I had expired stickers. I still have a couple of weeks before they expire so maybe my new plates will arrive by then...
