In much the same way most white people were during pioneer days, yeah. I suspect that would be a selling point for some fundies, though

She was more or less a right-winger but on the libertarian side, not the traditional religious trad side. I believe this is more true of her daughter, who was a major libertarian writer in the 30s and 40s, but still true of her to an extent.

Yeah, her daughter was very into the libertarian stuff and did re-writing to emphasis the Bold Brave Pioneers Out There Alone when in fact the family only survived on numerous occasions due to community, and that still made it into the books! The TV show was more along the religious trad side.

What the other anon said. Racist in the 'on those silly Indians' demeaning sort of way like a LOT of pioneers were, but not racist in the 'murder everyone different' sort of way. I know some people see all racism as equal and I'm prepared for the dogpile, but it's not, especially in that time where their interactions with non-white settlers were few and far between.
