You know, I've heard of that show, but never once have I seen anyone mention that it has queer characters in it.

Just a note for the first season of Black Sails--there is an instance of SA that's pretty brutal, but the showrunners realized that they mishandled it/shouldn't have done it (at least the way they did) and they actively worked to make sure the next seasons don't treat any female presenting character like that again.

I just like to mention that because sometimes people hit that and go oh no im out--I really encourage you to give it a chance past that. The writing across the board, for all the characters is really good.

It's weird, because I know people are trying to be inclusive, buy I find "female presenting" such a derogative term. Like "these over here are actual females, and you're just female presenting. Oh well. You tried."

Yeah seconding about some not that well handled SA. Also this isn't light-hearted show, it's a gritty drama. So it's OK for comedy fans not going for it.
But this show is extremely queer.

Black Sails is SO GAY. Like, SO. SO. Gay.

Max is almost certainly a lesbian (she will service men when she's a prostitute, but her canon relationships are with women), Eleanor is bisexual but tends to prefer men (And her taste in men is HORRIBLE), Flint is bisexual but his main lover is a man, there's two separate triads, and there's an aro-ace male character.

And on top of it being so, so gay, it's a really plotty, compelling show. You need S1 to get to the really good stuff in S2 and S3, unfortunately (and S1 has some Not Great plot stuff), but once you get into s2, it is so compelling and plotty and ridiculous and SO GOOD.
