To the first point, I'm pretty sure it physically can't cry (at least not in the tears way; obviously it has emotions). In the beginning without-a-helmet scenes, there's the crew being shocked that it has a face, Dr. Mensah coming to it in the cubicle while it's leaking (blood and fluid, not tears), and it making a face when Mensah asks if it wants to stay in the crew area.

All amazing scenes, imo, but not crying.
