TBBT and Friends are very different shows and it's perfectly plausible to find one funny and not the other for reasons that have nothing to do with nostalgia goggles. It's even possible for people to think that one is a good sitcom and the other is a bad sitcom especially if you're the kind of TV nerd who has opinions on what makes a sitcom good that go beyond you personally finding it funny.

Personally I do think that Friends was better than TBBT. At least early Friends - later Friends got really bad.

Not to mention 'early Friends' is a good 15 years older than 'early BBT'. "A product of its time" means a very different thing for the mid-1990s vs. the mid-2010s.

I hear that. My favorite fandom discord just shut down because it got too large to effectively mod and bad actors just ruined everything.

i think the audiences are different enough between friends (aka comedy directed at and about 20 years olds) and bbt (aka comedy directed about nerds directed at a wider range of ages including people older than 20) means that i wouldn't be surprised if there's never any nostalgia glasses for bbt.

the level of comedy is similar but the joke themes and set-ups aren't.

Do you have a preference? Big fandoms can be nice because it means more activity, lots of fanfic, etc. But small fandoms sometimes have a tight knit sense of community that makes up for the lack of traffic. What do you think?

... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and while I'm definitely not the world's greatest expert at secret design, I'll try my best.

Just to clarify - it's my intention to make all the secrets left in this thread, so even if they're not marked claimed, they will be made. I'll monitor this thread until tomorrow's secret post goes up, so feel free to leave your comments until then!

P.S. Please don't worry if you've submitted a secret and it hasn't been posted yet. I usually post these threads before running out of the previous batch of secrets to get a head start on the next batch.

Depends on how I want to interact with the fandom in question. Right now, I'm in three fandoms. Two I just hang around and read fic or look at art and I like that they're big 'cause there's usually something new when I check. The third one I create things for and discuss meta and I rarely read the finished fic or art that other people are doing, so I hope it stays small. I get shy when there are too many people in the conversation, and if it gets bigger half the way I want to participate in fandom will be too uncomfortable for me.
