More so than usual, today's crop of secrets are mostly referencing fandoms that are a mystery to me. Anyone read any good books lately?

Luttwak's "Coup d'État: A Practical Handbook" has gripped my interest, for some reason.

I've only just started it, but I'm really enjoying it so far. Lady Justice: Women, the Law, and the Battle to Save America.

I’m probably late to the party but I recently discovered T. Kingfisher’s novels and I’m loving them! I started with Nettle and Bone because it was on Kindle Unlimited, and I just finished A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking. I loved it so much that I dove straight into another, A House with Good Bones. I love the quirky groups that come together in her novels, although I do find children characters to be written as thinking and acting too old. But the stories are so enjoyable that it doesn’t really take me out of them.

I love her horror novels. The Twisted Ones being my favorite.

Oh thank you! That just went to the top of my list. I only started AHWGB last night so it will be a week or so before I get to that one but I’m thrilled to have the next book picked out :)

I just finished A House With Good Bones and it was fantastic! I read every spare moment the last few days. I had to dig back through posts to find your comment because I couldn’t remember which I was going to read next. I meant to purchase it right away but was too absorbed to do it.

I wonder if you'd think the children in her kids' books (written under her real name) also seem older than they should? Most of them are talking dragons and hamsters and stuff though so there's a certain degree of verisimilitude wiggle room.

AYRT
I wondered the same thing when I read her About the Author section. I think I need to pick one up and find out for myself.

No. My last book was a dud. Need to choose a new one to read.
