in general i think its a bad idea to take conversations op's had and make assumptions about philosophies of those real people when there are so many different perspectives that could be at play (which i think many people have laid out here) when op is upset that people are doing that to them in those same conversations.

in order words, i don't think we can say that those players are deeming this roleplaying as always inappropriate. in many ways this could be about specific circumstances that are nevertheless common and the main context in which people will frame their responses. that doesn't actually mean they mean always.

At the end of the day, I guess it really is a big miscommunication problem where people are speaking from entirely different places, with entirely different expectations of concepts and of other people, who they are or who they "should" be. Seeing as I'm the anon who started the whole "I can see both sides" conversation, who understands both the frustration of not finding people with the same mindset for a certain sort of gameplay as well as being wary of someone who has too demanding a character idea to make sure it'll fit in with the rest of the group and allow everyone to have fun, I still stick to that. It was the hyperbole of some users when responding to the secret that I found strange but then again maybe expecting a little more nuance from the internet was my mistake, lmao. So thanks for not engaging in that way, it was a nice change.

haha yeah we can get hyperbolic here, but i agree there are expectations, some unsaid, that is making OP's character design hard to implement, and i really do hope OP finds a table. have a great day!
