Aww my Nana use to make those when I was a kid. She use to get those cheap plastic dolls from the sewing shop and let me and my cousins play with the ones she wasn't working with. She also use to make a tea-cozy one with the doll on top (to go over those old-school brown teapots kind of shapes) and she'd either gift them or donate them to be sold at the church sales events.

I have one of those dolls from my 'senior buddy' when I was in first grade. You know, where elementary school kids 'adopt' a senior citizen at a nursing home. Her name was Bernie and we got along really well. She also gave me her favorite pin that says 'don't bug me, just hug me' that I still have.
