Oh I love this <3 They’re so soothing to watch and I hope they help you, OP!

Also, this is the first YouTube secret ever posted to FS that I actually know what the secret is talking about! Sometimes I feel so old, or at least old fashioned.

She doesn't show day-trips in her videos, but I like watching Boone Bake for some of the reasons you've listed.

1. doesn't show her face.

2. No voice-over, just the noise of the items she's using with subtitles at the bottom.

3. Incredibly visually pretty confectionaries that she completes by the end. 10/10.

I find them very soothing and love putting them on when it's been a long or hard day in order to help me relax, and it usually works.

Nyangsoop! I love her videos and her cat Taco.

I dislike this trend tbh it feels performative and like... So carefully neatly pruned and arranged

It’s YouTube, of course there’s a performative element to it, that’s what creators there do.

(Anonymous) 2024-02-21 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
And it bugs me with this specific type of content.

(Anonymous) 2024-02-21 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Are you bothered by fiction in general?

(Anonymous) 2024-02-21 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Why are you so upset someone has an opinion?

(Anonymous) 2024-02-21 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you think anyone who disagrees with you is upset?

(Anonymous) 2024-02-21 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
These videos generally hold themselves out as non-fiction, don't they?

(Anonymous) 2024-02-21 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
I get it. Sometimes it can feel too carefully curated. I look at it this way - this person has chosen to show some limited facet of their life and share it with others. Of course you don't see everything, that wouldn't be nice or feasible for either side. I enjoy the relaxing interlude, and maybe it helps them, too.

That’s valid! I watched one and loved it, then watched a bunch more by that channel. Then I watched others that YouTube recommended and there were some good ones but others that I just didn’t like but couldn’t put my finger on why. I can easily see that applying to the whole genre (? Style? Whatever).

I love those types of videos! I also like walking tour ones. Very relaxing.

walking tour ones are my jam, I can't get with the curated ones like OP describes. I tried, but having a camera pointed vaguely at some twee person's torso while they delicately hold a cup of tea which they drink off screen...eh. I just could not get down with that.

Not watching the exact same stuff cause I love it when people ramble in their video, but the "inexpertly" -ness is what I really enjoy from vlogs. Just real, normal ass people, that maybe get to travel a bit more than me, or cook slightly better then me. Bonus if they make art that isn't of the trendy/kawaii instagram variety...

This channel is a favorite of mine, even though I haven't watched in a while.

This channel is probably even more off topic, but her videos also feel real to me haha. There are some short, obviously staged ones, but it's obvious they aren't trying to pass it off as real, more as art projects.
