Lots of people liked Rick Astley before he became a meme! That was a #1 hit song! He did world tours! You just had the bad luck to like him in the backlash period that comes after the initial popularity. Now he's retro.

I'm fairly certain my first memory of Rick Astley was VH1's "I Love the 80s". I can only really appreciate the song as a meme song. I'm sorry, pure millennial trash. If it counts for anything, I don't think the song is a bad song. It's a catchy song but I can only see it like how I see Weird Al songs lol I'm sorry
