Yeah. She's pretty inoffensive as a human being (besides the huge contribution to climate change), but her fans shove her everywhere as this musical prodigy who can do no wrong and is such a shining beacon of LGBTQ+ rights/feminism/etc. Which. She is not. She sings a few catchy songs, guys, it's not that deep. You can love her music without making her out to be some sort of paragon.

I keep seeing people talk about her like she's this perfect creative genius goddess in human form. Yet my opinion of her never rises above, like, an overly sweet, underflavored vanilla cupcake. Not much else.

Every time I read comments like this I have to wonder if people like you have ever met fans of other musicians because honey, most fans of every big time pop star act like their musician blorbo is the most perfect creative genius whose shit don't stink. It's just so weird to me singling out TS stans when this is something so hilariously common among music stans of any type.

Original comment anon here - I honestly have only come across fans like this in kpop, but that's only online; I've unfortunately met swifties that act like this in real life too. I'm sure there are other musician fans who are just as unbearable out there, but I have never seen them. But I also only run in black metal and dungeon synth circles, so part of the time it's like "oh yeah this musician is an asshole, but I like their music" another part is like "oh shit he's a nazi, dropping him" (fuck you NSBM), and a third part is like "all we know is their stage name and music, but otherwise they seem chill". Hope that makes sense.

Yeah, sounds fair. It's just that I have seen this fan behaviour with artists like Beyonce, Harry Styles and yep, especially K-Pop as well. But the genre and its target audience definitely makes a huge difference, I observe this mainly with Pop artists.

Yup. She's okay, sure. Hell, maybe she's the best that the 10s and 20s have to offer. But it just feels like she's playing it safe within expected pop formats, which isn't that impressive and not much different from everyone else.

I used to be more defensive of her even if I didn't listen to her songs because I thought that people who hated her went too far. What really made me start disliking her was the accident on her show in Brazil, don't like how she dealt with it.
