Omg how could you not think the Glee version is better!!?????

FFFFFF I love the Amy Winehouse cover with a kind of creepy obsessive love. I don't even get it.

Hahaha, I like clichés . :D So that didn't really bother me. (I also went into Glee mostly blind, so perhaps the lack of buildup did it?? IDK. I was sucked in, and they got to meeee.)

I haven't seen HSM. So that could have something to do with it! :DD

Haha, all I saw were some squee!secrets I ignored, and then a commercial that made me want to watch it. So I did. And I liked it. ^^

Personally, I loved the pilot episode because I came in expecting entertaining camp, and it met my expectations with flying colors. I'm not looking for a srsface drama or a masterpiece of musicality. I'm looking for HSM + The Office wrapped up in the package of a happy, sappy, fun story about ~The American Dream~, with some sharp dialogue and stupidly awesome (or awesomely stupid) musical numbers along the way. I love campiness done well, and hell, if HSM + Journey isn't the campiest thing ever, I don't know what is.

In short, to each their own. \o/

I was fairly underwhelmed by the plot, but I love the music so I will keep watching. I'm actually glad they are doing covers of songs, it saves us some of the pain of HSM (I am not a fan of HSM, mostly because the music is weak).

I actually HATED this song until I heard the Glee cover of it.

I like both, but I'm a huge sucker for earnest covers like the Glee one that just don't know and don't care how ridiculous they are. So I probably liked Glee's more.

What really bugged me, though, is that throughout the episode there was very obviously more than five people singing in the dubbed chorus. Veeeeery obviously.

BUT... I liked the Glee version better than the Rock of Ages version I heard while watching the Tonys. ^^

I can still totally rock out to the original...but while I do, the Glee routine plays in my head!

I also like Glee's version of Don't Stop Believing better than Journey's, though I discovered the song "Loving, Touching, Squeezing" by Journey through Glee, and I love the song.

Overall, I'm happy, I have two new songs to love.

While I can't say that this is one of them, I collect covers as a hobby (don't laugh, it's cheaper than most, at least until you run out of hard drive space), and it's not at all infrequent that I'll pick up a cover that I think does much more justice to the song than the original. (Examples: Chris Ledoux's "Life Is a Highway," David Mead's "Human Nature," Theresa Miele's "Addicted to Love.")

What I find embarrassing is that Adam Lambert's "Mad Word" has displaced both the Tears for Fears original and the Andrews & Jules definitive cover as the default version in my head. :-/ I don't actually think it's better (TfF forever), but for some reason, it's more memorable for me right now. And I don't even watch American Idol.

I agree. I had Glee on in the background (I found it boring, but to each his own), and when I heard the song I wanted to throw up. It was terrible. I LOVE the original so much, and this version was nothing but shrill, irritating, and slightly insulting. I don't begrudge anyone for liking the Glee version, but better than the original? WOW.

I love them both in different ways :) though the original is still one of my favourite songs of all time.
The main girls voice in the Glee version is pretty fucking shrill and annoying, IMO xD if I have it on too loud it hurts my ears. BUT THE REST OF THE SONG IS AWESOME.

Steve Perry is one of the greatest vocalists of all time. So, yes I disagree.
