There was a big argument between them on a Robot 6 article, as well as Liefeld's message boards. PAD called him out on what he said and accused Rob of being upset that PAD was able to make people start giving a shit about Shatterstar again when he couldn't.

The fight on Liefeld's boards I think is only accessible to members only, and I don't give a shit about the guy enough to join up. But apparently he and his four fans dogpiled PAD for retconning Star and blah blah. It was just a bunch of drama.

Still siding with PAD though.

That's nice. I still think PAD was a huge ass about it.

BTW, I did go to the forums to see what was going on, and we hasn't dogpiled at all. He intruded, and people pushed back because PAD was being a passive-aggressive ass. And I say this as someone who was expecting to side with PAD.

Hey now, I never said he was nice about it, anon. I just don't feel bad for Liefeld and him having said what was said to him.

And that's cool too. As I stated above, I was not on the message boards and only heard second hand. Thank you for clarifying though.

That sounds like PAD. He likes to act like everyone's space is his space. I'm amazed he didn't bring the fight back home with him; maybe he's learning.

Thanks for clarifying! I'm not about to register at Liefeld's boards either, but I'll definately look up that article.

...But really, I don't think anything could make me not side with PAD. I've shipped Rictor and Shatterstar for over a frickin' decade now, so I was pretty much bound to worship whoever truly pushed them over that canon-or-not edge (regardless of the fact that I liked PAD previously, and disliked Liefeld).

Personally, if I had some guy make a bunch of discriminating comments and say he wants to take back all of my work? I'd probably be a bitch about it too. I'm not saying PAD wasn't obnoxious about it, but from his standpoint, he kind of had a right to be. I don't know, that's just my opinion. PAD has made some dick moves in the past, but like you, I'm a massive super ridiculous lover of Ric/Star and I want to see them developed and established like they should have been years ago REGARDLESS of who's writing it. Anyone who turns around and says they need to correct homosexuality and ignore 15 years of canon for the sake of it deserves to get such comments made to them. Sorry to say.

For me, it's not the comments (homophobic as hell, but hoping for a retcon is standard in comic-book land) it's PAD's usually ass-tastic behavior. If he was gonna (deservedly) call the guy a homophobe, he should have let it stand, rather than try to blame the other commenters. It's all part of a long line of bad behavior from him. He's was hardly the MOST wrong in this situation; I just wish he was less wrong than he usually is.

I absolutely understand that standpoint. He doesn't have the best track record for his internet behaviour AT ALL. I mean,

scans_daily, anyone? It could have been approached better by all sides. I actually am really annoyed this even had to happen in the first place, but. That's comics for you.

Yeah. Comics fandom, even among the Pros, is kind of a massive headache. At least some people got their OTP out of this. And while I never really cared about those two specific characters, it's nice to see some gay heroes in canon, who (hopefully) won't die tragically or get ret-conned.
