I mean I don't necessarily agree with the reaction in the circumstances for various reasons but I think it's just really objectively clear that a lot of the reaction to Schnapp and other people has specifically been about support for Israel, not about Schnapp being Jewish.

There's absolutely plenty of antisemitism on the left and in pro-Palestinian circles. But it is frankly dishonest to pretend that all criticism of Israel or pro-Israeli statements is based in antisemitism. It is dishonest. That is not the case. People criticize Israel because they think Israel is in the wrong. There are very straightforward non-antisemitic reasons for thinking that.

Hamas has done absolutely morally unacceptable evil things. The Israeli government and military have done absolutely morally unacceptable evil things. Neither of those statements cancels out the other.
