Have you been to any fun cons?

(Anonymous) 2024-03-17 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
GalaxyCon is in town and I am hearing not great things about it. I haven't been to a convention in years but I remember them being so much fun! I went to SDCC a few times, and I went to PAX in Boston twice. I doubt it will happen (I'm kind of old and poor) but I would absolutely love to go to DragonCon - it seems like such a unique con culture and I would adore people watching there.

My dad and I went to Dragoncon together twice. It was a lot of fun. I'd love to go again when I can afford it.

DragonCon is great (though I haven't been for over 5 years and it might be a little different.)

It's SO CROWDED, but the people-watching and cosplay are amazing. If you go, I would encourage you to bring a costume because it's much more fun if you're also dressed up; you feel like much more a part of things if you're cosplaying too. It doesn't have to be epic-level cosplay or anything, even a Star Trek shirt and pants or something.

Anon, there is no such thing as too old for cons! I go to 2-3 cons a year and there are plenty of people who are visibly 50+ at all of them.

Myself, I figure I'll stop going to cons when I stop having fun at them. I'm in my 40s now and that hasn't happened yet.
