I've seen both (though it's been years since I watched Braveheart) and... yeah, I can see it. Outlaw King isn't mean to be that kind of Hollywood movie, though. (And I'd be fonder of Braveheart if it didn't have Mel Gibson in it, never liked that guy even before his awful drunken rant and other stuff.)
