You're not saying anything that anyone hasn't said before. There are just some fans who LIVE to bitch and moan. Many of them are the ones who have decided, for whatever reason, to pick a side. And they bitch and moan from BOTH sides, in the name of Sam and in the name of Dean. I don't understand it, but rationale isn't going to help. They have chosen to feel victimized and put upon and take it as a personal offense that a character developed in a way they disliked or disagreed with and no amount of talking is going to help.

Instead of trying desperately to reason with them, why not just ignore them? One thing I've learned about the SPN fandom is that certain groups of people are pretty damn set in their ways. They don't discuss things because they're looking for some interesting conversation. They SHOUT things at each other because they want to kick and scream and stomp their feet and BE RIGHT. But they do not make up the entire fandom - or even the majority of it. And they certainly aren't "killing" the fandom. If you're letting them ruin it for you? That's your fault. Just get away from them. It's not that difficult.
