I really think Hermione needs to get more of a clue if she's going to continue championing this as her cause. She means well, but the patronizing "I know better than you what's good for you!" attitude that she sometimes shows really isn't much more respectful of their right to autonomy than wizarding society in general is.
In short: Less hiding of clothing in garbage bins, more trying to empower the elves to fight for their own rights, plz.
