My favorite response so far to Gambit in a crop top was someone on Tumblr posting comic art of Gambit's full man-tiddys-and-abes-out X-men uniform and proving that Gambit has always dressed Like That.
So with that considered, a crop top is just small potato in the grand scheme of things involving Gambits wardrobe.

Crop tops used to be totally normal things for men to wear?? Crop tops used to be specifically something (cis! het!) sporty guys wore all the time. Including in pink, even, though that I think was more 80s than mid to late 90s. But it was the kind of thing guys wore to peacock for women as well as just while working out.
