That reading fanfiction in a mostly adult occupied private fan archive had an effect on my vocabulary. When my mom took me to a homeschool EOG test proctor, they told her I recognized SAT words

It was a nice self esteem boost I really needed at the time because the whole reason I was in homeschool was that my middle school has put me in a class that straight up just wouldn't teach much and my self esteem had just been in the gutter. So that helped :)

Can relate somewhat. Took me long past the page of 12, but the practice of reading and writing fanfiction helped a LOT with recognizing story structure and understanding all those literature-related terms I was taught in class but never quite grasped.

Still working on the vocab though, lol. Still lacking on my end.
