There's also the fact that a lot of people (like me!) tend to ship the canon ships, so when I'm considering non-canon ship possibilities in a lot of canons there tend to be far more male characters who aren't in canon ships than there are female characters.

It's sort of like... A and B are the canon ship so they're off limits, but C and D are over here and they don't have a canon ship and I like their chemistry, what if I shipped them?
