I think you're projecting with the whole "women's relationships are fraught and fake".

While I think there is some truth in your belief that women are drawn to M/M due to a desire to understand deep male connections, I think it's reductive to say it is solely this one thing that makes M/M ships appealing to women.
And projection on your part to say women compare it to their own relationships to other women.

IMO, in addition to the things you listed, I think it's also appealing to prioritize the life of men without feeling like diminishing their own experiences as a woman since these men aren't real.
Also, so often we do not see men express softness and vulnerability. To be able to see it expressed even in fiction IMO explains quite a bit the appeal it has on women.

Again, I don't think it's solely ONE thing that appeals to people who enjoy M/M ships.

A bit OT but in my experiences as a woman, my relationship with women can often be deeper than any relationship I've experienced with a person of the opposite sex.
In my experiences I can trust women more and I find them more reliable and easier to work with.
Not to say all women in my life are good and trustworthy to me.
But....just...I don't think it's good to put women down, especially if men factor into the conversation somehow. =/
