It wouldn't, if she actually had proof. She claimed to have proof, didn't show any, declined to participate in the investigation of Hardwick's abuse and then it came out that whoops, she'd cheated on him and begged him to take her back and there was proof of THAT. Which doesn't mean she was lying, but sure doesn't look good.

Ahh, ok. I read that as "alleged he had assaulted her" and "had proof" as two separate statements in the same sentence. I see now the alleged covers both.
