Put in an offer on a really cool house. Seller accepted.

Inspection found knob and tube wiring. We asked the sellers for a credit. They're being weird about it, so we'll likely have to walk.

I can't tell you how annoyed I am. "We're probably just gonna relist, but we'll think about it." Bruh, even in this market, anyone who wants to buy the house is going to be put off by the knob and tube. Any potential buyer is going to want some sort of concession, especially at the price you're asking.

Sucks, man. I know it's normal with homebuying to have a deal fall through, but it's still a bummer.

Ick. That sucks. Glad the inspector found it, though. There were several things in our house that the inspector didn't find and we didn't find until we moved in.

Oh, I'm definitely glad he found it, as well! I'd hate to have been surprised by it.

I'm sorry you had to deal with unexpected issues once you bought your place. Not fun at all.

Man that sucks. We've given up on ever finding a good house that we like for a reasonable price.

Buy it and rewire it, or spend the next decade renting and watching it be listed as an airbnb buy someone prepared to eat the cost to be able to rent it out.

Your choice. If you're waiting for the reduced rate unicorn, the only home you'll be getting is a nursing one. And you'll still be renting that room too.

Just a realist, one who has been there.

Dude, I'm a realist. You're an asshole.

It's not wise to buy a house with an expensive problem out of FOMO.

This is not the only affordable house on the market in our area. Walking from this one means moving onto the next, not giving up altogether. It sucks because we like it, not because we're desperate and need to have it.

This is how bad choices are made.

Knob and tube is actually a huge draw for restorationists. Bonus points if the current owners painted everything griege. They’ll get their asking price and probably more.
