Yup. This was me last year. I enjoyed exactly one movie (Honor Among Thieves) and barely watched any tv.

Same. I miss that feeling.

*siiiiiiigh* Hard same, OP. I was just thinking the other day that when I was younger, I had a small list of authors whose names I'd excitedly look up at the library, hoping they'd have new work published and hoping there'd be a copy to borrow so I could swoop down on that shelf and carry the new find home like a treasure. I wish I could have that feeling back.

This secret speaks to me. I just got back from the doctor with two new scripts for anxiety and depression (on top of the one I already have) so my fingers and toes remain crossed that they help. ;o;

I feel this. I think that's one reason why I'm such a hardcore Legend and Lattes fan even though I realize the writing and story is mid. Its the first book in a looooong time that has awakened such excitement and feelings of "I want more" when reading.

I feel that last sentence on a spiritual level, OP.

Ageing sucks.

I don't have depression but sometimes there's just no series to be excited about, or you outgrow an author.

(Not that the work is childlike, but you know what I mean; you've taken what you needed from that author or series and you're burnt out on it or whatever.)

Yeah, I get this. I don't think I'm depressed or anything in a 'clinical' sense, but man...so very little really gets me excited anymore, or laughing....meh.

STP is a once in a lifetime treasure. He had things to say and said them very well. And that's one of the things that sets him apart from all other genre fiction and comedy writers. The Vimes Boot Theory of economic injustice really helped me pull out of my sheltered conservative kid thinking. He was such a force for good. But also that makes replacing him almost impossible.

All that to say: you will feel joy and excitement again. I don't know what'll bring it. Maybe talking to a doctor about depression will help. Maybe some Vitamin D and a light box and regular exercise will help. Maybe trying something completely different will help because you won't be comparing it to what you miss. If you'd told me 10 years ago that I'd love what I do now I wouldn't have believed it, I hope you'll have the same thoughts in 10 years.
