Equivalent, when Americans translate Japanese content: "dumped" when they mean "rejected." You can't dump somebody you weren't dating! It's in everything, and it makes the meaning super confusing!

Also 'tensai' is almost always being used in a "gifted" sense and I fucking wish people would stop subbing it as "genius." No teenager is a fucking genius at sport or whatever. They're gifted, talented. Tensai.

It's not how the word is being used in context. "A natural" is another translation that never gets used and is clearly more suitable than "genius."
