Oh I know that. And to an extent I agree that it can be annoying when a friend changes who they are to fit in to something. But it doesn't apply just solely to gay people, and this originated from attacking 'campy' gay men, which felt like it was alienating them. I don't agree with changing yourself to fit in, but I can understand people changing shallow aspects of themselves to fit in. Just because I understand it it doesn't mean I enjoy or admire it, but I don't let it bother me.
