Ehhhhh. I'm gonna have to disagree on the grounds that I don't think all or even most of Wattpad's users were there because they wanted to "accept censorship and whore themself out to an algorithm". They were there because that's the fanfic site they found, and they took the censorship and algorithm because they're used to the entire internet working that way, because nearly the entire internet does work that way these days.

A lot of Wattpad users are too young to remember an internet before recommendation algorithms, so they don't realize the effect it has -- what basis do they have for comparison, right? As time goes on, that'll be true of internet users in general, I suppose...
